Why would someone use a local Search Me site?
A. Because it's one of the easiest ways to be presented with local information, market with your neighbors and to meet new friends on a local level.
Why is there also a SearchMeCities.com site? It's not local to anyone.
A. Since it's impossible to open every city in the US, we are opening local Search Me sites in the cities with highest demand. We do not want to leave anyone out so we have developed this site so those who do not yet have a local site can still experience some of the benefits of the local site until they get their own.
How do I know whether there is a local Search Me site in my area?
A. You can go to the "Locations" page and click on your state. If there is a local site available, there will be a link to it right under the map. You will also see a list of the cities that we are about to open there too.
The site says that everything on the site is free. Is it really?
A. Users of the site may use the entire site free. There are items for sale in certain areas such as the library but it's never required to purchase anything to use the site.
What about business owners/operators/managers? Do we have free stuff too?
A. Every business gets a free listing in the directory where your business resides complements of Search Me Cities. You can also opt to enhance your business listing so you stand out among your competition and/or take advantage of our low priced advertising (see here for details). Realtors and Auto Dealers also get up to five free listings with optional upgrades available.
How do I check my business listing, add or modify it?
A. To check to see if you are listed, click on 'Local Businesses' then enter your company's name in the space provided. Click 'Search' to see if your name appears. If not, just create a free account by clicking 'SignUp' in the upper right-hand corner of any page. Create a Username and password then go to the 'Login' area. Use your username and password to enter. Click line 1 to 'Add a Listing' or line item 2 to 'Modify a listing'. Save it by clicking the "Submit Query" button when you are done. Be sure to use good keywords to help people find you. Think about what categories you would fall under in the phone book, product name or other names your customers might use to think of you. (NOTE: Do not use keywords that are not associated with your business just to draw traffic. We will delete any listings that abuse the keyword area.)
What are the optional upgrades for Realtors and Auto Dealers?
A. If either would like to list more than five items, there are two upgrades available: Our Gold Upgrade, which offers an additional 10 listings and our Professional Upgrade which offers additional 20 upgrades to the original five (ten more than the Gold Upgrade). Pricing is only $19.95 and $29.95 per month respectively.
Are you saying we can post items in the classified without paying you anything?
A. That's right. Everything in the classifieds is free except when Autos and Homes are listed above 5 items. If someone wants to list more than five homes or autos there is a small charge ($19.95 for ten more; $29.95 for twenty more).
How do I use the free areas such as the free classifieds, forums or events calendar?
A. Simply create a free account by clicking "Signup" in the left-hand corner of any of the pages. You will be asked your email address and to create a username and password. Save this information somewhere safe because you will need it each time you want to enter.
Do I have to wait for an email to be sent to me before I can use the site's free stuff?
A. Nope. Once the account is created you can immediately log in.
Why do I have to leave my email address?
A. This is a family site and we take great strides to ensure that everything in it is "G" rated. If someone uses the site inappropriately we want to be sure that we can identify them and either correct the situation or make sure that they can never enter the site again.
Is that all of the information you collect?
A. No. We also collect your IP Address and store it with the email address. That way, if someone uses a fake email to get entry, we can still track them down. We are going to do EVERYTHING we can to protect you and your family.
Will there be more things added to the site as time goes on?
A. Absolutely! We already have new content identified and in the works. You will see a whole bunch of fun and exciting things here in the very near future. So, if you don't bookmark us or make us your home page now, you may miss out on some cool stuff.
Do you have business opportunities available?
A. Yes.
